Why a Horizontal flowrapper?
Through intelligent design, Redpack HFFS machines make changeovers quick and cleaning simple, streamlining processes for operators and reducing overall maintenance time.
Highly configurable, our base machines offer either top seal with bottom film reel (NTS series) or bottom seal with top film reel (P-series), making them suitable for a wide range of applications, including fresh produce, snacks, food-to-go, meat, dairy, and non-food items.
Further customisation is available through detailed configurations of the infeed, sealing jaws, and choice of control systems. These options allow you to tailor the machine to your specific product characteristics and feeding requirements, ensuring optimal speed, efficiency, material use and performance.
Sectors for HFFS Packaging Machines
Not sure whether an HFFS machine is the right fit for you? Here are just some of the sectors where Horizontal Form Fill Seal machines can provide the ideal solution.
Sustainable materials and packaging formats
Redpack is committed to supporting customers in utilising a variety of packaging materials to help achieve increased recyclability post-use, including recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable options across both plastic and paper. With our highly adaptable machines and experienced engineers, a tight fit can be achieved that reduces wasted film, decreases the shipping of air, and provides a smart, consistent finish to your packaged products.

HFFS Machines - Key Features
1. Pack style flexibility
Whether your product is 5 cm or 3 m in length, regular or irregular in shape and size, Redpack machines will optimise efficiency and minimise downtime.
2. Quick & easy cleaning
With toolless removal, infeeds can be quickly dismantled, cleaned, and reassembled to minimise downtime.
3. Easily adaptable
Add additional features such as an integrated checkweigher that can be controlled via the main HMI (total machine length with this is 3m).
4. Ergonomic & hygienic design
Built to work with operators, we ensure that areas requiring access can be reached quickly. Rounded edges, minimal welded joints, angled surfaces, and stainless steel finishes create a hygienic design.
5. Intuitive HMI
Our HMI has been designed to support both operators and engineers. With one-touch menu access, product recipes can be quickly recalled, errors identified, product settings adjusted, and schematics accessed.
Flexible and adaptable
Redpack has been designing and manufacturing machines since 1977 and understands the importance of optimising machinery to deliver the best results for each customer’s products. Redpack horizontal flowrapping machines can be configured through various components to meet your specific requirements. Configuration options include:
Top seal or bottom seal
Top film reel or bottom film reel
Control system
Infeed – options include auto-feed, belt infeed, and pusher infeed systems

HFFS Machines FAQs
What types of products can be wrapped on a HFFS machine?
Highly configurable Redpack horizontal flowrapping machines can handle a wide range of products including: fresh produce, snacks, food to go, meat, dairy and non-food items. Whether your product is 5cm or 3m in length, regular or irregular in shape and size Redpack machines will optimise efficiency and minimise downtime.
What’s the difference between horizontal and vertical flow wrapping machines?
Horizontal machines feed products through a machine horizontally where as vertical machines see products gravity fed through the machine. Your product, and how it needs to be packaged will determine which type of machine is required.
What are the machine dimensions and footprint?
Uniquely for a flowrapper; a Redpack HFFS machine can come in under 3.1m; including an integrated checkweigher which is a further saving in the production line.
What is the maximum and minimum product size it can handle?
Redpack produce machines to handle products from under 5cm to 3m. Our highly adaptable machines are capable of handling a wide range of product shapes and sizes.
What is the maximum film width and roll diameter?
The maximum film width is 850mm.
What is the packaging speed (packs per minute)?
The packing speed varies as it is influenced by multiple factors from the characteristics of the product being packed (including weight, size and shape), how the product is fed in to the machine and how it needs to be packed.
Redpack machines are capable of reaching up to 500 ppm for some products.
What types of films or materials can it use?
Redpack are committed to supporting customers in utilising a variety of packaging materials to help achieve increased recyclability post use, this includes recyclable, compostable and biodegradable options across both plastic and paper.
Can the machine handle printed film with registration marks?
Yes, film and product positions can be set to ensure consistent product placement within printed film.
Is it servo-driven or mechanical?
Both are available within Redpack machines.
How easy is it to change over between product sizes or formats?
Product recipes can be saved and quickly recalled via the HMI to ensure swift product changes.
Does it have automatic feeding options or need manual loading?
A variety of feeding options are available including auto-feed, belt in-feed and pusher in-feed systems.
Can it be integrated with weighers, feeders, or labelling systems
Yes ,Redpack HFFS machines can be integrated with other systems. Where possible we ensure all can be monitored and controlled via the main HMI.
Is it stainless steel or washdown rated for food applications?
We have various models available, all are stainless steel with different washdown ratings available up to IP65.
Are spare parts easily available?
Yes, we keep a stock of £2.5m spare parts at our HQ in the UK and also have spares available at our German location.
